To watch a beleaguered President Bush yesterday was depressing and to note that his Republican colleagues ignored his plea for help was unbelievable. Senator McCain in one of weird speeches in Ohio about Republicans' concern for country came before their selfish interest was once more undermined by his fellow Republicans. In Ohio, McCain said the choice voters face is: "Country first or Obama first?" (www.Huffingtonpost.com - 29 September 2008). Voters choice was made for them by McCain's colleagues in Washington. It would appear that every time, McCain says something about the economy, disaster happens. The "economy was fundamentally sound" - Wall Street and Banks began to crash. "Country first or Obama first" - rescue plan voted down. He just doesn't seem to get it!!
The silliness of Republicans were very vivid yesterday; not only did they leave President Bush looking bewildered, they claimed that they voted down the rescue plan because of Nancy Pelosi's speech - so much for country first. Unless these men(mostly) and some women get their acts together, without allowing their foolish pride to take centre stage - America will be made a laughing stock by a regime that has already isolated a wonderful country from the rest of the world.
Republicans' ineptitude cannot be attributed to their concern for their country's security or the survival of Israel. Israel must not allow herself to be used as a backdrop for bad decisions and neither should the so called war on terrorism. While 9/11 remains a heinous crime - current leaders lost focus on how to run a country. McCain's attempted dissociation of himself from President George Bush is a guile effort to divert attention from his contribution to yesterday's debacle. It is time Americans woke up to the disaster that is staring them in their face. The election of Senator John McCain is a continuation of this comedy.

When Palin needed to sell her house during her last year as Wasilla mayor, she got the city to sign off on a special zoning exception _ and did so without keeping a promise to remove a potential fire hazard.
She gladly accepted gifts from merchants: A free "awesome facial" she raved about in a thank-you note to a spa. The "absolutely gorgeous flowers" she received from a welding supply store. Even fresh salmon to take home.
She also stepped in to help friends or neighbors with City Hall dealings. She asked the City Council to add a friend to the list of speakers at a 2002 meeting _ and then the friend got up and asked them to give his radio station advertising business.
That year, records show, she tried to help a neighbor and political contributor fighting City Hall over his small lakeside development. Palin wanted the city to refund some of the man's fees, but the city attorney told the mayor she didn't have the authority.
Palin claims she has more executive experience than her opponent and the two presidential candidates, but most of those years were spent running a city with a population of less than 7,000.
Some of her first actions after being elected mayor in 1996 raised possible ethical red flags: She cast the tie-breaking vote to propose a tax exemption on aircraft when her father-in-law owned one, and backed the city's repeal of all taxes a year later on planes, snow machines and other personal property. She also asked the council to consider looser rules for snow machine races. Palin and her husband, Todd, a champion racer, co-owned a snow machine store at the time.
Palin often told the City Council of her personal involvement in such issues, but that didn't stop her from pressing them, according to minutes of council meetings.

A few minutes later, the mayor e-mailed back: "Sounds good."
On Sept. 10, 2002, the seven-member Wasilla Planning Commission unanimously approved a variance for both sides of the property, with language covering "all existing structures." Less than a week later, the Palins signed a deed to sell the house to Henry Nosek.
The carport was never removed.
Nosek said Sarah Palin didn't do anything more than any other citizen would have done.
"I sincerely don't feel that Sarah used her position as mayor at the time to get that accomplished," said Nosek, who no longer lives in the home.
James Svara, professor of public affairs at Arizona State University and author of "The Ethics Primer for Public Administrators in Government and Nonprofit Organizations," suggested such behavior is part of small-town politics.
"Small towns are first-person politics, and if people are close, it's hard to separate one's own personal interest and one's own personal property from the work of the city," Svara said. The key questions from an ethics standpoint include whether the politician makes a potential conflict of interest known and removes himself or herself from actions related to it, he added.
"I think in a small town there is a greater likelihood that people will accept that you will pay careful attention to friends and neighbors," he said, adding that there may be some local gossip about it, but not a lot of public scrutiny. "At the national level, there will be far more people watching, there will be far more pressures to come forward to try to influence the outcome."

Bill Clinton's Bitterness or Race Hate
Recently, I have been reading and watching Bill Clinton's appearances on television and comments to the newspapers on this historic 2008 election - I wondered what his role will be and whether he will play the elder Democratic statesman that all democrats expected him to play. When his wife was competing with Senator Obama, I quietly understood his position even though I disagreed with some of his 'vile' comments. I thought that put in similar position, many of us will probably do the same.
But since his wife's loss and his wonderful convention speech, I'd expected him to do more. Afterall, Mrs Clinton had been on campaign trail as she promised. I am disappointed with President Clinton in recent times especially with his difficulty he is having with mentioning Senator Obama by name. He has no such difficulty though in mentioning McCain's name whenever possible. In my view, President Clinton feels that the less that is said of Obama, the less the American people will know who McCain is competing against. This strange behaviour has forced the likes of the comedian Chris Rock to remind the American people that President Clinton has difficulty mentioning Obama's name. The word Obama is like a chicken bone that is stuck in one's throat - in this case Bill's.
Second, Bill Clinton feels very comfortable in telling us how much he admired McCain and what a good friend he is, yet has difficulty in praising Obama for his historic achievement (the first African American to be nominated by a major party in America) which he and the Democratic Party should have exploited to show Americans and the rest of the world that America is moving forward, not just in technology and economics (well, not with the current mess)BUT socially and politically too. All these egotistical behaviour have not gone unnoticed - both the New York Times (26/9/08) and Huffingtonpost.com have noted Bill's strange behaviour on this election. A Note to Bill Clinton
Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin -- sorry, Palin/McCain -- administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.
But that's not what you're doing, Bill, and it's not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it's too huge to hide. We see that -- as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out -- it pains you to even speak Obama's name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.
You're not fooling anyone, Bill. You've gotten so caught up in yesterday that you've stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you're spitefully sitting on it. Surely you've noticed what's going on in the country. Surely you're aware of what's at stake on November 4th. This is not a game that you can afford to take your ball and go home with if you don't get to play the position you want. An Obama loss will most certainly be part of your legacy.
There's still time to fix it. How about this for an October surprise? Bill Clinton gets on the road and spends every day until the election sincerely and wholeheartedly communicating the urgency of electing Obama. You're the greatest politician of your generation, Bill. Surely you can fake enthusiasm for a month.
Oh, and stop talking about how much you like Senator McCain. Have you forgotten the vile joke he told a decade ago at your wife's and daughter's expense? Let me remind you: "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? She's the child of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton." Are you saying, Bill, that you can forgive McCain for calling Chelsea "ugly" but you can't forgive Obama for defeating Hillary?
If Obama loses a close election -- one in which even one state where you could have made a difference goes for McCain because you sat home and pouted -- it will be on you. We will remember that you couldn't be bothered to rise above your petty resentments for something as trivial as saving your country from the enemies of everything you profess to believe in. We forgave you for Monica, Bill, but we won't forgive you for this.
Earlier this month, we had all the furore about a lipsticked pig, yet it was a comment Senator McCain had used to describe Hillary Clinton - a comment Bill Clinton is happy to accommodate and still PRAISE McCain. Finally, Bill Clinton said that he'd campaign for Obama only after the Jewish holidays - I did not know that he is Jewish. Many of the people campaigning for Obama are Jewish yet have gone on the campaign trail regardless of their holidays - realising the importance of this election.
Will our LOYAL Bill had postponed his campaign for Hillary if she had secured the nomination or if another white middle class male had secured the Democratic presidential nomination?
When Bill Clinton was about to be impeached for lying - almost all his African American supporters stood by him. Obama's nomination would have given Bill Clinton the platform to say Thank You to the African American population for their immense support & loyalty. Unfortunately, Bill's ego is so BIG that he finds this impossible to fathom. African American's will remember!

Catholics, Joe Biden and Barack Obama
The Telegraph of UK reported in its blog that Catholics have deserted the Obama campaign because of Joe Biden's view on abortion. First why is a British newspaper so intent on reporting on any negativity that they assume to afflict the Obama campaign? Second, this right wing newspaper known for its views on Europeans should be ashamed of itself. While the rest of the world are concerned on the economic crisis,Gerald Warner the author of the article was more concerned on some religious group who have remained indifferent to Obama and his message. The Catholic church, whose priests abused countless people should be seeking public's atonement and not judge people on views they found abhorrent. If we are asked to NOT condemn the catholic church because of the actions of a few priests with the complicit knowledge of some bishops, I urge them to NOT abandon Obama's message because of the views of his VP who has other excellent qualities. As for Gerald Warner, he should be ashamed of himself. He is hiding under the guise of catholic church to express his bias.

Panicking Democrats? Oh Relax
New York Times' Gail Collins' (10 Sept 2008)article titled "Misery Loves Democrats" made me smile. This post is to thank her for her apt observations on the US election and to calm the nerves of all Democrats around the world.
September, 11th, 2008 8:41 am: Thank you for agreeing with me Gail. A little hiccup and everyone is panicking. The real Sarah Palin will show up. Make ups, my sisters tell me are removed before one goes to bed. Dishonest ads, character assassinations and blatant lies have a way of revealing themselves. Americans, I believe Americans will soon wake up to discuss issues that concern them most- foreclosures, job losses, welfare, education and the war in Iraq and the loss of American lives.
Lipstick on a pig, did Sarah Palin not say that she is a lipsticked pitbull? Would it have been better if Obama had used the phrase, lipstick on a dog? Republicans would have shouted foul and charge that Obama was referring to Sarah Palin's daughter. Sarah Palin opened the door for Obama to enter and I am glad he did. Did McCain not use similar comments on Mrs Clinton? So what gives him the right to say negative things on a woman and not Obama. If the Republicans want Obama to apologise, McCain must do so first. The real bone of contention for Team McCain is colour. How do they get rid of this African American without being seen to be racist. He has forgotten his place in a 'white' society - they quietly think. As it is delicate to discuss gender, so it is to discuss race. However, The Republicans can play the gender card but unfortunately for Obama, playing the race card is counter-productive.

Bristol Palin & Teenage Pregnancy in America
The recent Republican's sex education ad attack on Senator Obama is an indication of how Senator McCain is prepared to play dirty in other to get into the White House. The constant smear of Senator Obama's character. I am surprised that Obama's supposed policy has not been blamed for Governor Sarah Palin's daughter's pregnancy. It would appear that the seventeen year Miss Palin listens more to Senator Obama than her mother and her moose shooting friends.
Senator McCain's New Ad on Sex Education
It would appear that Senator McCain is bent on becoming the next US president through lies and misrepresentation. In the New York Times today (9/11/2008), these lies and misrepresentations are once more laid bare, but whether the American public are listening is another issue. America is involved in a messy war in Iraq - which had cost thousands of American and Iraqi lives based on lies - Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Americans MUST never make another catastrophic mistake by electing a man on false informations.
A Pig with A Lipstick
I find it incredible that American Press are making so much fuss about Obama's comment. Sarah Palin invited such comment when she described herself as a lipsticked pitbull. I don’t know what to say, but it sounds like possible the angry left (as bush put it) is throwing sour grapes.
1. If you don’t know the true meaning of a token, then you are really missing the point.
2. If you are a teens who has a child no matter where you are from, you are in for a tough road ahead. If you are teens who plan on getting married and getting a job to support that new family. You can be admired for doing what is right, but still looked upon as having made a poor decision but soon will be blessed with unmeasurable joy. When you are having a baby as a teen and not able to afford that baby and have no plans of getting married to the father and being unable to support that baby and the people of this great country are having to foot the bill for you and your child it is a problem for all of us. This being said again the gift of a child no matter how old you are should be looked as a blessing, because God made us all and God doesn’t make mistakes.
3. When has exotic become a bad word unless you are just angry and bitter and looking to complain. Heck I wish I was considered exotic.
4. I have yet to hear anyone consider Barack an unpatriotic word, but maybe the name Hussein makes a few people uncomfortable. Can you imagine some in the 1940’s with the last name of Hitler or Mussolini running for President at that time.
5. They are adults and allowed to decide whom they would like as a VP candidate when they want. If a pour pick is made by either candidate it is their decision to live with. But again that is the liberals again trying to tell you how you should run your lives. I believe in Freedom, not big brother.
6. I’m sure we could have a discussion on this as soon as Barrack will talk about his association with Fringe political groups that are known terrorists. And why he stayed at a church run by an anti-American pastor that cussed out the great country that allows him to have free speech. He should go cuss out Thailand and see how they would look upon it, or speak out in Iran against their country and see what happens. I think that would solve that problem.

You are right about one thing though; this is a great country we live in and opportunities are available to those who work hard to achieve the dream. If you’re the same in Alaska you’re a “teen father.” (Actually, according to your own MySpace page you’re an F’n redneck that don’t want any kids, but that’s too long a phrase for the evil liberal media to take out of context and flog morning noon and night).
Black teen pregnancies? A “crisis” in black America.
White teen pregnancies? A “blessed event.”
If you grow up in Hawaii you’re “exotic.”
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you’re the quintessential “American story.”
Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you’re “unpatriotic.”
Name your kid Track, you’re “colorful.”
If you’re a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fulling vetting the individual you’re “reckless.”
A Republican who doesn’t fully vet is a “maverick.”
If you say that for the “first time in my adult lifetime I’m really proud of my country” it makes you “unfit” to be First Lady.
If you are a registered member of a fringe political group that advocates secession that makes you “First Dude.”
A DUI from twenty years ago is “old news.”
A speech given without proper citation from twenty years ago is “relevant information.”
And, finally, if you’re a man and you decide to run for office despite your wife’s reoccurrence of cancer you’re a “questionable spouse.”
If you’re a woman and you decide to run for office despite having five kids including a newborn with Downs Syndrome… Well, we don’t know what that is ‘cause THAT’S NOT A FAIR QUESTION TO ASK!

If you get 18 million people to vote for you in a national presidential primary, you’re a “phoney.”
Get 100,000+ people to vote you governor of the 47th most populous state in the Union, you’re “well loved.”

If you’re a conservative and your parents pay your way to Hawaii Pacific University . . . you only have four more schools to attend over the next five years before you somehow manage to graduate (it might be five more school over the next five years. No one has yet verified whether or not Palin was actually ever registered at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. But, you know how shady people are who ever attended any kind of school in Hawaii).

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to $400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new African Amerian voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, then spend nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you are woefully inexperienced.
If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you’ve got the most executive experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to Russia.

If you are a pregnant and your waters break when you are 7 1/2 months along far away in Texas where you are to give a speech, it is perfectly acceptable if you are a social conservative for you to give the speech anyway, fly to Seattle, fly to Anchorage, drive another 45 minutes to get to the podunk hospital outside Wasilla. Who needs those big city hospitals with all the resources to help your special needs child? 13 to 14 hours between waters breaking and getting medical attention for yourself and the child you know is already highly vunerable is the sign of a “tough” woman.

I don’t know what to say, but it sounds like possible the angry left (as bush put it) is throwing sour grapes.
1. If you don’t know the true meaning of a token, then you are really missing the point.
2. If you are a teens who has a child no matter where you are from, you are in for a tough road ahead. If you are teens who plan on getting married and getting a job to support that new family. You can be admired for doing what is right, but still looked upon as having made a poor decision but soon will be blessed with unmeasurable joy. When you are having a baby as a teen and not able to afford that baby and have no plans of getting married to the father and being unable to support that baby and the people of this great country are having to foot the bill for you and your child it is a problem for all of us. This being said again the gift of a child no matter how old you are should be looked as a blessing, because God made us all and God doesn’t make mistakes.
3. When has exotic become a bad word unless you are just angry and bitter and looking to complain. Heck I wish I was considered exotic.
4. I have yet to hear anyone consider Barack an unpatriotic word, but maybe the name Hussein makes a few people uncomfortable. Can you imagine some in the 1940’s with the last name of Hitler or Mussolini running for President at that time.
5. They are adults and allowed to decide whom they would like as a VP candidate when they want. If a pour pick is made by either candidate it is their decision to live with. But again that is the liberals again trying to tell you how you should run your lives. I believe in Freedom, not big brother.
6. I’m sure we could have a discussion on this as soon as Barrack will talk about his association with Fringe political groups that are known terrorists. And why he stayed at a church run by an anti-American pastor that cussed out the great country that allows him to have free speech. He should go cuss out Thailand and see how they would look upon it, or speak out in Iran against their country and see what happens. I think that would solve that problem.
7. ADMITTING that you did something 20 years ago that you have paid your debt to society for is different than lying (sorry, mis-stating)some known facts.
8. You guys keep playing that “A woman is unfit to be a mother and a leader card” and you can kiss your angry, hateful, envious ass good bye. All women don’t take kind to being told they are incapable of doing something. Having kids is not like facing the reality of death of a spouse, but I guess when you have an adulterous affair waiting in the wings you don’t care.
Face it, you are all starting to get worried. We’re talking about what a great country we live in, and the opportunities that are available to those who want to work hard and achieve a dream (optimism). You people keep talking about how you can’t achieve anything in this country and that with out the governments assistance nothing is possible (pessimism). Good luck with selling that!

But then again……they were just two fun-loving, fornicating kids at that time. He didn’t get serioius about morals until he had that Pubie epiphany on forcing government into our bedrooms before he became Guv of California. 1. The “token” comment didn’t make much sense (hence the reference to Bush) so it can be left alone.

As Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden have already stated, “Family matters should not be a part of a political campaign”; which makes me wonder why freshman Governor Palin has chosen to exploit her pregnant teen-aged daughter and her physically-challenged 4 month old son in hopes to gain favortism among the GOP and the nation.
3. I totally agree that “exotic” should not be considered a bad word - it simply means different. You’ve proven that you definitely are not different (I would say conservative status quo); especially with the views you’ve expressed here. I’m sure you do wish that you were considered “exotic”.

They are worried about how they are going to put enough $4 gallons of gas in their cars to make it to a job that may not be there tomorrow because the company they work for is getting big tax cuts from the government to move operations overseas for cheaper labor and and the big oil companies reap record billion dollar profits month after month. They are worried about their parents and grandparents who have worked all of their lives to build the American Dream for themselves and their families only to lose it because they have to make a choice to either pay outragious medical bills due to not being able to afford health insurance or make the mortgage payment. News flash sporty: The only assistance this government has been giving the last 8 years has been to the Iraqi government by allowing them to stockpile billions upon billions of dollars while we send our men and women to fight and die in a war that was waged by a man who took advantage of the vulnarability of an entire nation during a crisis. Why? To appease his own personal agenda (his daddy and oil). By the way - does Bush even remember who Osama Bin Laden is?
You are right about one thing though; this is a great country we live in and opportunities are available to those who work hard to achieve the dream. My parents did it, Senator Obama did it as did so many other Americans before and after them that weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouths. These are the majority working class, proud, dedicated and persistant Americans that have been forgotten or set aside. Jobless Report Becomes an Issue on the Campaign Trail - NY Times
Is George Bush's Republican Party different from Senator McCain's? I constantly hear Senator McCain trying very desperately to distance himself from a political party that he has supported for more than 25 years - all these in his quest to get into the White House. How despicable is this man? I wonder what level he will stoop to to get into the White House.
This nonsense of marverick-ness is absolute trash. This man has no moral scruples. Once the media questions his actions, he talks of his experience in Vietnam. John Kerry was in Vietnam and was decorated, BUT we do not hear him raise this flag when he is challenged. This man, McCain supported and voted with George Bush's Republican Party throughout President Bush tenure. Now he wants the world to think that his Republican Party is different from Mr Bush's.
He and his party must be held accountable for the ills that have befallen the great country.

Sarah Palin Speech
We have been advised that Sarah Palin's speech will 'rock' us when it is delivered today in her acceptance speech. It is one thing to write and deliver your own speech and another to deliver a speech written by another person. Considering that this woman was "never" vetted by the McCain team, was told a day before she was to be chosen, followed by revelations that her 17 year old unmarried daughter is pregnant -and we are told will marry her boyfriend, LEVI (whether he likes it or not). We must remember that this woman got a man fired for refusing to sack a state trooper who happened to be her brother-in-law. SO what time will this SUPER WOMAN have to write this Monster of a speech? I really cannot wait to see it.
It is commendable that Senator McCain chose to make a woman his VP. It is one step towards equality. But what really is behind this elevation? We have been told that as the governor of Alaska, she has foreign experience, better qualified and well prepared for the most powerful post in the world - all because she has a down syndrome child, a pregnant teenage daughter, shoots wildlife, supports drilling in one of the most beautiful places on earth - oh yes, a mayor of a place with under 7000 people. Is Sarah Palin really ready to deal with the Chinese, the Indians, the Brazilians, The Russians and the European Union (they will be gentle with her)and the Africans? Or are we about to witness another George W. Bush - little experience and and allowed neo-cons to run the greatest country in the world with disastrous consequences - IRAQ and Afghanistan?
The near acceptance of the christian right is appallingly regrettable. For years these persons have advised and warned us about the consequences for breaking God's laws - and one of them is FORNICATION!! With the arrival of Sarah Palin on McCain's ticket, these moral lectures are being abandoned - anything to get into the White House. This is the most dishonest of it all - a betrayal! I expected condemnations from all angles of the Republican Party - BUT oh no, it may work against getting McCain elected. We will change our views once McCain gets into the White House - I hear. The defence is that the public will relate to Sarah Palin's woes, trial and tribulations - really? I have heard Republicans admonish many African American and other minority and working class white families for decades for being irresponsible; often we hear demands to have their welfare cut off, talk show hosts exploit these families and the religious right pounce and condemn - now with one of their 'own', we are called to understand and relate. Of course we do understand and empathise with Sarah Palin's difficulties. It is a shame that McCain failed to understand Britney Spear's difficulties when he cited her in his ad attack against Obama. and this brings me to the question WHY DID McCAIN choose Sarah Palin as his VP? The answers: McCain was hoping to tap into the so called disgruntled Hillary Clinton's supporters and women votes (2)Such hurried selection was attempt to steal Obama's thunder after his barnstorming speech (3) McCain wanted somehow he can bully into acquiescing on every of his decisions - irrespective of how dangerous they are. But such irresponsible decision plunges the world into an unstable stage. George W. Bush talked about McCain as the man to keep democracy's security - he forgot to mention that his presidency has made the world a lot less safe. The security of the world is not just about IRAQ - it is about the whole world.
As a non American, the Americans will make a decision about who governs them. The loss of America's world respect is as a result of rash decisions, untruths and trigger happy by people driven by their own agenda. America and Britain went to war over WMD (WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION) not to remove Saddam. Since the war began, the reason for invading have constantly shifted. We must not repeat this mistake. Americans should be proud to have a leader admired by the rest of the world (like Bill Clinton was), since when does elitism become a crime? Has McCain and family ever visited a MacDonald's restaurant to have a meal with the common people? The elevation of Sarah Palin is a two edged sword - while I congratulate her on this, I think she should have owned up to her personal difficulties (teenage daughter and impending investigation). The sacked officer may even reveal more damaging emails and letter which may bode ill for McCain. I urge her not to accept this position - but I doubt if she will heed my advice. Human beings are greedy animals!!
