Sepp Blatter-FIFA PRESIDENT

I write to enquire why Mr Blatter should involve himself over issues between Manchester United and Real Madrid. Manchester United recently complained to FIFA over the behaviour of Real Madrid. Is Sepp Blatter an attorney? Contracts are signed for a reason - Ronaldo was not forced to extend his stay with Manchester United. To have mostly illiterate persons from poor families paid extravagant amount of money sometimes in excess of US$200,000 a week is not slave money – and to describe contracts signed to extend a players stay with their club for 4 or 5 years IS not SLAVERY. It is simply a club protecting its interest and investment. Sir Alex Ferguson brought out the best in this player – like he’s done to many – past and present.

One of the directors of Arsenal Football Club as quoted in one of the tabloid newspapers is right to note that allowing players to break their contracts willy-nilly is something that must not be tolerated. Once again, English clubs MUST rethink the employment of foreign players especially if they are continually going to break their contracts or demand more money just a few weeks after signing a new contract. In my view, Manchester United must stand their ground and allow this matter to be tested in the court of law.

Alternatively, Ronald, if he feels that he is being held as a SLAVE – something as a Portuguese – he should know more about, HE must challenge Manchester United’s stand in the court of law. To enter into a new contract with the knowledge that you can break it within days is unsettling and definitely not good for the sport.

It would appear that Sepp Blatter seemed to involve himself MORE over matters involving English clubs more than any other European country. If Real Madrid so desperately wants Ronaldo, they should pay what Manchester United is asking for one of their players.

I find the activities of Real Madrid and Sepp Blatter unfortunate. Manchester United has survived the departures of great players - and Ronaldo have not reached that status yet!! Sepp Blatter should also learn to behave like a president of a respectable organisation – i.e. SHUT UP!!!!.
